HISTORY

Season 1

Working as a CIA analyst in Panama, Daniel Miller makes a discovery that sends him to Berlin as part of a covert operation to determine the identity of a whistleblower known as "Thomas Shaw", as well as the internal source feeding Shaw the damning evidence of CIA tactics while on foreign soil.

While investigating other cases with the station's agents, Daniel uncovers Shaw to be one of his close colleagues, Hector DeJean, but also unravels a far more intricate plot involving the BfV (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz), Germany Intelligence, who want to sabotage the entire CIA office in Berlin -- a plan Daniel learns the truth of when Hector explains how he was approached by the BfV to handover the CIA's damning secrets to them in exchange of keeping his identity unknown. However, it also becomes aware to Daniel and his trusted colleagues that the CIA ha been spreading around false information to flush out the internal leak (also known as an 'eyewash') giving Shaw information. Daniel tells the team that Hector is Shaw.

In a bid to find some backup files that prove the CIA's unethical 'eyewash', the BfV is alerted to Daniel and the rest of the agents at Berlin Station at a local point of interest. It is then ordered they all be taken into custody. When Daniel finds Hector's backup files, he is able to get them into safe hands before being shot in the back.

At the end of the first season, the entire station is cleared and Hector 'disappears'.

What is your canon exit point?: Post season one, before season two starts.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONS

What skills does your character bring to the situation?

Daniel brings a pretty impressive level of intelligence to the table having worked both as a CIA analyst and an undercover agent in Berlin. He'll do what is familiar to him: work the evidence and put together a reasonable explanation as to why they are all there. He's fresh out of the field so it's something he will default to in order to maintain the stability he's used to.

He's also done military tours and knows how to survive in plenty of sticky situations.

Why did you choose this specific character for 6I, and how do you picture them fitting into the game?

I've been looking for a brand new character to sink my proverbial teeth into and Daniel is someone who fits my typical character type. Yes, I realize he'll be the second "spy" I'll have in the game, but he's quite different from Natasha and not just by gender.

The show, "Berlin Station", is also still quite new with only two seasons under its belt and a third on its way later this year. So I'm intrigued to see how he will develop in both show and game and how he'll adjust to living among powered power, as well as deal with the presence of his own (scrub) power.

How do you imagine your character will survive in 6I, and in what ways will they contribute to the settlement, if any?

At first, it will definitely be a challenge, especially once he makes his arrival during the Down the Tubes event. That is some high-level government shit, as far as Daniel is concerned, so searching for any answers on where he is, who is behind the abduction and why they are going to these lengths is going to be his priority for the foreseeable future.

Of course, that's only going to yield so many answers before he'll need to rely on keeping busy with different things in the interim. Combined with character relations, particularly with those who he shares a job in common with, Daniel will settle as well as anyone else.

How will your character react to...

Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable?

Being that his family is limited to a close cousin and her son, Daniel's going to have the toughest time adjusting to not knowing what is going on in Berlin, despite being between assignments. He works in a job where there is never a lack of things to do, so being abducted will technically be his next job.

Their environment being manipulated, possibly in strange or extraordinary ways, and possibly in ways which restrain them?

It will be another thing to note; the manipulation likely apart of the experiment they are all apart of. He's aware of the enhanced interrogation techniques used by the CIA and will not doubt that mind-altering drugs are being involved somehow.

Being physically and/or mentally manipulated, such as having hallucinations or suddenly possessing special abilities they did not have before?

No one wants to be messed with unless they can defend themselves in turn. Daniel has never been threatened in that way before, so the discovery of it will definitely be alarming.

He's not a powered individual to begin with, nor does he live where there are superheroes like the Avengers or magic beyond sleight of hand and illusions. But Daniel does live in a world where power corrupts the best and attracts the worst, so having any of the scrub powers is not going to be something he cares to have.

It's important to note that Daniel comes from Earth as we know it, where magical/superpower means are less likely to be happening and everything happening is merely a symptom of our own minds being tampered with.
